Exhibition Report 2008

Sorry readers, not much of an Exhibition report this year, reason being that my layout pictures are not up to scratch. My camera's batteries were flat when I started my photographic expedition 2 hours before the Exhibition closed. The only replacements I could find were some carbon-zinc batteries on All Components stand. Andy warned me they would last no time at all, but I was desperate and insisted on buying them. Andy was right. After 5 shots, the red LED warning me batteries were low began to flash. So rather than produce a few bad pictures of a less than complete record of our layouts, I've decided to publish nothing, to be fair to all. Next year I'll try to do better.

Other than my photographic mess-up, the Exhibition was a success. Captain Carter, our Chef de Bacon Sandwiches was unfortunately away at sea, driving the biggest gas tanker in the world (not joking) somewhere in the far east. His place was ably assumed by Nick Field and assistants, girlfriend Anne, Jim Pope and Barbara plus Pete and Dorothy Dunford on sandwiches. Good nosh was had by all.

Traders are suffering and are less likely to want to come to small but beautifully formed Exhibitions like ours. We strive to keep traders who provide the "real" modeller with parts for scratch-building, electrical components, components for modifying proprietary locos, etc, as well as RTR but it becomes ever more difficult.
